Haute Couture runway shows not only take us to fashion wonderland, but they also show us a new, artistic and creative side of makeup. Tulle pieces, shiny metallic detailing, glitter liners, crystals…there is nothing that can’t be turned into makeup treasures when it comes to the most luxurious runway shows in fashion.
The work of makeup artists during these shows has always fascinated me. Instead of creating an everyday look, they think completely out of the box and let their imaginations do the job. As a result, we get gorgeous makeup transformations that encourage all fashion and makeup lovers to experiment with makeup, even if it’s for everyday use.
There probably isn’t a better way to start our list than featuring Dior’s iconic crystal lip look. During their spring-summer haute couture collection, the fashion house’s makeup artist created stunning, bold lips for the models.
Anna Sui is known for her over the top, detailed and colourful designs, and of course, the makeup has to go with her fashion aesthetic. For 2012, makeup artists dreamed a vibrant, red and black contrast geometric eye look for the designer’s collection.

Although it is pretty simple (compared to some other runway makeup looks), the execution and the holographic glitter made this look exquisite. When it comes to geometric shapes and modern colour matches, Versace is the first to come in mind. This 2014 couture makeup look represents everything that the brand is today: futuristic, feminine and edgy.
